The story on Joe's bike could
be titled "Family Feud." His dad originally bought the shovelhead back
in 1970, got some miles on it, then got bored (don't ask me how) and stashed
it in the garage.
Ten years later, Joe decided
he'd have to fix up the rusty, dusty, but still trusty Hog, complete with
dog piss on the tires. He was offered a measly $500 for it by his local
dealer on a trade in. But this was the bike he wanted. He figured he'd
chop the heck out of it - that is, till he was deprogrammed by Michael
Gatt at Michael's Motorcycle Works. Michael notified Joe of the value of
a stone stocker and told him what a dumby he'd be for chopping it.
The rebuild was extensive,
both inside and out, with Gatt doing the motor work and Jesse James the
Rolls Royce red and white paint. Therein lies the basis of the feud. Yep,
you know who wants it back. Father used to know best, but Joe's dad stooped
to an Aspencade, and now asks how "his" bike is doing.
"Sorry, Pops, this ride's
for me," counters Joe.
