Transformed
Knuckle

Twas the night before
Christmas (1984) and all through the shop the sound of wrenchin' just couldn't
be stopped. Welders arced, adjustments rendered, along with paint for the
brand new fenders. For the word had come down from on high that this knuckle
was to be ready tonight. Ya see, the bike had to be under the Christmas
tree. So a kiwi mechanic found himself in a panic; the shop owner, no stoner,
was crackin' the whip like an outraged loner. Things hadn't matched up
well for this old Harley FL. Not to worry - Michael Gatt and his
men began to scurry. A promise of rainbow gold from the customer had been
told, if, in fact, the bike could be packed to his home.
The wrenchin' kiwi, a man
from Down Under, was becoming asunder. "What's with these crazy Yanks?
I'm fed up with their Christmas pranks!"
"Quit yer bitchin' and get
to fixin'. In the US of A we do it our own way!" Gatt was heard to say,
"And besides, this baby's gonna pay."
What had arrived as a rollin'
rat piece o' crap, was bein' converted to a beauty, bit by bit. With oodles
of pride, the wrenches were developin' one helluva ride. It would be a
real classic, no way ya could mask it. A glorious knuckle that the road
would never buckle.
So the project was ended;
their brains they'd extended. The mechanic team mounted their sleds, off
to home, sweeties and beds, while visions of new putts danced in their
merry heads.
The kiwi and Michael made
the trek to deliver what once had been a wreck, now truly changed; customized
and rearranged. The owner, they believed, would be highly relieved. They'd
met all his wishes and were ready for a bonus that should be delicious.
Their jaws they dropped
when out he plopped for each a Girl Scout cookie.
"Listen up," came Gatt's
scathing reply, "it's better than a sharpened-stick poke in the eye."
